Lynnette Joselly: DIY: Fabric Print on Denim Shorts

DIY: Fabric Print on Denim Shorts

Hello my lovelies! I have a new fun DIY project for you! Do you have any old jeans just laying around and want to spice them up a bit? Well try out this Do-It-Yourself denim shorts featuring a fabric print panel. It is so easy to do and I am pretty sure you ladies are going to be making a few of these.

Tools Needed: You are going to need a pair of shorts, 1 yard of fabric, scissors, fabric adhesive, tracing paper, pen and a clothing iron.

Step 1: Place tracing paper on top of denim shorts, make an outline of portion you want to be covered in fabric and cut out piece. You are going to use this shape as a template to cut your fabric. It's best if you cut 1/2 inch more to allow you to fold in the rough edges.

Step 2: After you have your piece of fabric cut out, you want to spray the adhesive either on the back of the fabric or on top of the denim jeans.

Step 3: Place the fabric on top of denim shorts with adhesive and smooth out.

Step 4: Now that your fabric is glued in place, you have to seal it in by ironing it in circular motions to make sure it stays on. After it dries up I like to sew in the edges to make sure it last longer and won't get loose in the washing machine.

Step 5: Tada! All done! Here is the final product of my DIY floral print denim shorts. I went ahead and added a fabric panel on the back pockets of the denim shorts as well to make it more interesting. You can experiment with different types of fabrics such as flora print, aztec print, tribal print and more! I would love to see what kind of shorts you ladies created, enjoy!
