The ombre hair style has been trending for years now and is still going strong. What is an ombre hair trend you ask? Well the best way to describe it is as a hair color technique that looks as though your colored ends have grown out. Basically, darker hair on top that gets progressively lighter on the bottom. So yea you no longer have to rush to the salon to cover your out grown roots because the subtle two-tone is actually a hair trend. I was once a brunette, then joined the dark side with black hair and am now looking to experiment with color again. I have teamed up with Schwarzkopf and Walmart to show you all how to do the ombre hair trend at home.

In order to do this you will need a set of clip in hair extensions that match the color you have for your base and then you will begin the ombre effect on the ends of the extensions. When it comes to human hair extensions, they can be dyed up to two shades darker. The hair has already been through a chemical process, so bleaching or lightening the hair can affect the condition of the hair extensions. Although the goal is to achieve a shade lighter than my natural hair color, since we don't want to damage the extensions with bleach, we are going to start off with a blonde set of extensions to easily go darker.

I will be using the Schwarzkopf Color Ultime Deep Brunettes Hair Coloring Kit in 3.8 Velvet Brown. I love this kit because you get a true to box color result. They also have a variety of vibrant, fashion shades in Deep Brunettes, Magnificent Blacks, Iconic Blondes and Flaming Reds. I will be creating a subtle black to brown ombre. Which is why I went for a rich chocolate color and will be leaving behind some soft caramel highlights from the original base color.

    1. Set up an area in which to dye your extensions. Several sheets of aluminum foil or a big plastic bag often works well to ensure the dye does not stain the area where you are coloring the extensions.

    2. Apply your gloves and mix the Tube Color Cream into the Application Bottle to create the Schwarzkopf Color Ultime hair dye mixture.

    3. Apply the dye starting from the ends and work your way up to the desired length of the ombre effect. The hair dye mixture can be massaged through the extensions using your gloved hands to ensure an even distribution. I will be skipping the distribution since I want to create balayage, natural sun-kissed highlights.

    4. Leave the dye on the extensions for 20 to 40 minutes. Check a small section of the hair during and after the processing time to ensure it's reached desired color. Then gently rinse and massage the dye out under warm water until the water runs clear.

    6. Lay the extensions out on a towel and allow them to air-dry thoroughly before using them. Once dry, apply a good quality moisturizing serum and style as desired.

As many of you know I have my own brand of clip-in curly hair extensions and used the wavy texture for this tutorial to experiment with different colors. If you want to test whether the ombre look will suit your hair or not, I suggest you try extensions. It’s pretty easy to do at home, costs much less than a salon visit, and doesn’t take a lot of time. The naturally sun-kissed look adds depth and definition to curled, waved and tousled hair styles; in which a few of your favorite celebrities are rocking such as JLO, Blake Lively, Chrissy Teigen and more.

  12. Mid-length goes to about the shoulder, and long wigs pass the shoulder. Short styles incorporate the gamin, the most brief, the shag, which has a more extended back, and the wavy European hair wigs that come in tight or free styles.

  17. Truth be told, numerous ladies think that its less expensive to wear a human hairpiece than to keep up common hair to the favored gauges. This is on the grounds that to keep up a characteristic hair, the lady should purchase synthetic concoctions and on occasion re-try the hair treatment. lace front wig
