Being from a Hispanic family we use to celebrate Christmas with a huge party filled with family and friends on Christmas Eve back when I lived in Queens, New York. We would dance the night away, eat empanadas and anxiously wait until midnight to open gifts. Sounds like fun, huh? Well it was, it was amazing; however, ever since we had moved to Miami, FL things have been really different and it took some time to adjust to the old family traditions without all my aunts, uncles and cousins. So instead of focusing on the fact that it was a lonelier holiday than usual we decided to create new traditions. Let's just say that I have been blessed to build new experiences with family and friends that my holiday schedule now consists of multiple parties, dinners and gatherings. And thanks to the WeAllGrow Latina Network I am excited to be working with Dove to share with you how I prep for the holidays and our new traditions!
Ugly Christmas Sweater Party. One of my holiday season favorites is The Ugly Sweater Party with close friends. I started this tradition last year with my boyfriend and decided to keep it alive for years to come. It's a great way to get all your friends in the holiday spirit by inviting them to show off their tacky Christmas sweaters. With some beer and fun games, your guests will be waiting for next year's invitation. And being that we do live in South Florida, let's be honest, it's not always sweater weather which is why I am glad the Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant goes on instantly dry and will definitely keep me feeling fresh under that knit Christmas sweater.
Formal Christmas Dinner. Of course we need to eat for the holidays so for the past few years I have been attending my boyfriend's family Christmas dinner. Which is a very formal and intimate gathering at his mom's house. Not going to lie, the first year I was pretty nervous because it was kind of a big deal. But now I just try my best to be open to trying new things because we all know a constant refusal of food can be a bit disrespectful. Also if you are meeting the parents for the first time I recommend you help out in the kitchen with serving and cleaning up, oh and wear something conservative.
Wear Matching Christmas Pajamas: As you get older you'll notice that Christmas is not really about the gift giving but more on the time spent with your loved ones. So instead of waiting until midnight we decided to wake up early on Christmas morning and wear cute matching Christmas pajamas to open gifts and indulge on a delicious brunch. Matching Christmas pajamas can add a feeling of togetherness for your family. And although it can be a little corny, it has created a special bond and we look forward to doing the same thing every year. Hopefully we can one day pass the tradition down to our own children.
What was once a lonely holiday after a big move is now back to being (as the Christmas song would say) the most wonderful time of the year! With all the running around from hosting parties to attending them, I would like to thank Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant for taking care of me and not letting me be that girl with the funky body odor at these holiday parties! The Dry Spray provides 48 hours of odor and wetness protection with all the care of Dove. This season can get stressful but it’s the little things that can make your day that much smoother. Finding an antiperspirant that dries instantly, leaves no residue, and simplifies your beauty routine can be the difference. Well my lovelies, that is all for now, till next time but do let me know of some of your holiday traditions, I would love to hear about them in the comment section below!
