The temperature is cooling down so you know that means, sweater weather is near. While most of you will be focusing on layering your outfits and bringing out the booties, let's not forget about the health of your hair. Did you know that cold and wet weather can take a toll on your hair? Which is why I have teamed up with Hair Cuttery to share a few tips that will help you maintain healthy, beautiful hair for the fall and winter seasons.
Massage your scalp. One thing I love about going to the salon to get my hair washed is that scalp massage. Raise your hand if you agree. I mean it's so tempting to fall asleep at the shampoo bowl as the stylist rubs my scalp with their fingertips in gentle, circular motions. One of the main benefits of massaging your scalp is that it will help the circulation to ensure healthy growth with natural oil production.
Deep Condition. Moisturizing your hair, especially curly hair, is so important during the colder months. So if you haven't done so, start a weekly deep conditioning ritual to restore weakened and damaged hair. To get the best results leave the deep conditioning treatment on your hair for as long as possible. I personally like to use an over night application, rinse it out in the morning then apply a leave-in conditioner before heading to the salon. This will allow my hair to stay hydrated before blow drying and also help protect my curls. You can also opt to do a REDKEN® Deep Mega Mask Conditioning Treatment at Hair Cuttery to restore and strengthen color-treated or damaged hair.
Trim Hair Regularly. The cold weather tends to make the ends of your hair dry and brittle. Getting regular trims will keep your hair in a healthy state by reducing the chance of split ends. I normally don't like cutting my hair because I want to grow it out as long as possible (I wear clipin extensions just in case you didn't know). But I have learned that when you have split ends and don’t take care of them it will stunt your hair growth and thin out your ends. Therefore if you want a thick and full look, healthy ends are the key. Getting your hair cut regularly will result in less damage and breakage.
Don't Go Outside with Wet Hair. My abuelita always told us we shouldn’t go outside with wet hair in the fall/winter time because we’ll catch a cold. I don't know if that is true or not, however wet hair is more vulnerable to breakage in the cold. If you are going to style your hair curly I suggest you air dry or use a diffuser if you are in a rush. In this case I decided to style my hair straight with a stylist at Hair Cuttery. There are over 800 locations through out the United States, so I conveniently found a few locations near me on their online store directory. Since I was running errands I didn't have time to make an appointment but good thing they also accept walk-ins.
Looking to change up your hair color for fall? Try the new REDKEN pH- Bonder to help protect and repair hair while coloring. Hair Cuttery is offering $10 off the add-on of pH-Bonder to any color or lightening service from 10/3/17-10/30/17.
Definitely going to be sending this to my girlfriend, especially with this horrible british winter already on its way!
