I can't be the only one crushing on that messy yet glamorous short wavy hair that all the hot celebs are rocking this summer. If you follow me on Instagram then you know I have been taking hair vitamins for healthy growth and now I am finally at a length I feel comfortable showing off my natural hair (meaning no extensions). I will still most likely be switching up hair styles from long hair to curly hair and so forth but I wanted to try something new. I have teamed up with Hair Cuttery to show you guys one of the latest spring hair trends: soft waves and short hair! So, take a look at this picture tutorial to see exactly how I styled my shorter tresses and keep reading to find out which products the hair stylist used to get this look.
Since it was my first visit at Hair Cuttery, I started off with a mini hair consultation with the Salon Leader, Kathy to discuss what my desired look was, how I normally style my hair, what products I should use for my hair needs and even learned some tips and tricks on how to battle a dry scalp. We then went to the shampoo section and boy do I love a good head massage. When it came to cutting my hair I made sure she only trimmed my hair to give my ends a healthy finish.
Since my hair is naturally curly I either have the option to blow dry or do hair rollers, since I was short on time we opted for the blow dry. The hair stylist applied the Drynamic™ Blow Dry Accelerator from Hair Cuttery's own hair product line called Cibu. This spray will help decrease blow dry time and help eliminate frizz and block humidity, which is a must in this hot Miami weather. She then added the CIBU Sashini Thermal Shine Spray on my damp hair for a sleek, smooth blow out as well as to protect my hair from any heat styling.
After dividing the hair into sections to prepare for blow dry, Kathy added It's A 10 Potion 10 Miracle Styling Potion to create the ultimate softness for blow drying. After the blow drying is all done, it's time for the fun part to create a beachy, tousled look. But before we apply any hot irons to my hair, it's very important to protect your from any potential heat damage which is why we used Paul Mitchell Hot Off The Press Thermal Protection Hairspray. Curling piece by piece with Hot Tools Classic Gold 1 ¼″ Curling Iron away from face to create a more voluminous look.
And since you wouldn't want your curls to fall flat we finished off the look with Redken Forceful 23 Super Strength Hairspray to lock the style in. It doesn't leave the hair hard so you can still run your fingers through your hair to loosen those curls up. And there you have it, an easy hair tutorial for short hair featuring spring's latest hair trend of soft waves! Lucky for you, there is a Hair Cuttery in just about every corner so find the nearest salon in your location here.
