I decided why not spice up an old denim blouse and prep for fall fashion with a super easy fashion transformation. I will be showing you guys how to create your own fringe jean jacket and don't worry, sewing skills are not necessary because we will actually be using Scotch™ Essentials products from your local Walmart store. DIY: Fabric Print on Denim Shorts
Hello my lovelies! I have a new fun DIY project for you! Do you have any old jeans just laying around and want to spice them up a bit? Well try out this Do-It-Yourself denim shorts featuring a fabric print panel. It is so easy to do and I am pretty sure you ladies are going to be making a few of these.
Tools Needed: You are going to need a pair of shorts, 1 yard of fabric, scissors, fabric adhesive, tracing paper, pen and a clothing iron.
Step 1: Place tracing paper on top of denim shorts, make an outline of portion you want to be covered in fabric and cut out piece. You are going to use this shape as a template to cut your fabric. It's best if you cut 1/2 inch more to allow you to fold in the rough edges.
Step 2: After you have your piece of fabric cut out, you want to spray the adhesive either on the back of the fabric or on top of the denim jeans.
Step 3: Place the fabric on top of denim shorts with adhesive and smooth out.
Step 4: Now that your fabric is glued in place, you have to seal it in by ironing it in circular motions to make sure it stays on. After it dries up I like to sew in the edges to make sure it last longer and won't get loose in the washing machine.
Step 5: Tada! All done! Here is the final product of my DIY floral print denim shorts. I went ahead and added a fabric panel on the back pockets of the denim shorts as well to make it more interesting. You can experiment with different types of fabrics such as flora print, aztec print, tribal print and more! I would love to see what kind of shorts you ladies created, enjoy!
DIY: Revamping Your Old T-Shirts
Now I know we all have those old t-shirts hiding at the bottom of our drawers. Well how about we do a little DIY project and bring them back to life! All you will need is a pair of scissors and a old t-shirts (duh!). I have come up with three different ways you can style your tee: a ripped back shirt, a crop top, and a cutout tee. Check out the DIY picture tutorial below.
Ripped Back T-Shirt
Cut off sleeves. Next, fold in half to cut off slits on back. Lastly, tug on strips lightly.
Crop Top
Cut off sleeves and bottom half on back. Next, cut off curved corners. Lastly, snip in two to tie knot.
Cut-Out Back Design
Cut off edges of neck, sleeves and bottom. Next, draw/stencil preferred design on back. Lastly, cut out.
DIY: Studded Cut-Off Shorts
I just can't get enough of studs and spikes! I am absolutely obsessed with any fashion item that has either other. However, these clothing pieces can get pricey just because the designer threw a few studs on it. So why not save a few bucks and reinvent your old jeans to create your own studded design!? Check out the step by step DIY (Do It Yourself) tutorial below to create studded cut-off shorts. By the way, it should take less than 60 minutes to complete the shorts.
Step 1: You are going to need an old pair of jeans, scissors, tweezers, pliers and studs.
Step 2: Cut off the jeans to your desired appropriate length for shorts.
Step 3 & 4: Find where you want to place your studs and poke holes with the prongs. If it's a thick fabric you might need to use an exacto knife to help poke the holes. After inserting your studs use the pliers to bend the prongs down and secure them in place.
Step 5: You can use tweezers to fray the ends of your jean shorts for the distressed effect. After that, you are all done! Don't they look fab?! I would love to see what you guys end up studding!

How To Erase Acne Scars
by Jane Shin Park

As if getting rid of zits isn't stressful enough, they oftentimes leave behind ugly dark spots that seem to take forever to go away. In fact, 95 percent of young women struggling with acne will be left with some type of skin discoloration, and about 25 percent will have permanent scars, according to Mona Gohara, Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Yale School of Medicine. Instead of hopelessly staring at those post-acne marks in the mirror, do something about them by following Dr. Gohara's spot-fading regimen.

Step 1: Learn The Lingo
Most of the time, when people talk about acne "scars" they are referring to a condition called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). On fair-skinned girls, PIH looks like a pink/reddish, flat blemish. On olive- and brown-skinned women, the discoloration is generally purple, tan, or black. PIH occurs when, in response to injury, the skin is prompted to make more melanin (the substance that gives us our color). Those with darker complexions are most likely to get PIH. However, this is not permanent! PIH will eventually fade with time.

Step 2: Choose The Right Wash
Anyone dealing with PIH should use a mild, granule-free cleanser at the start of each day. Washes that contain granules cause little micro-tears on the face, which signal the skin to crank out more melanin. Try Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser, Cetaphil Antibacterial Cleansing Bar, or La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser.

Step 3: Morning Routine Musts
Topical vitamin C is great at speeding up PIH fading. It is actually best if used in tandem with a retinol product (see step 4). Each morning, apply a vitamin C gel, serum, or cream, depending on your skin type. Also, do not leave the house without putting SPF on your face; this is essential! The sun's rays—even those you capture through windows in your car or at school—worsen PIH. Even light coming from the bulbs in your classroom can darken facial spots! Kill two birds with one stone by applying a vitamin C product that also contains SPF, like Murad Essential-C Day Moisture SPF 30, Origins Brighter By Nature SPF 35 Skin Tone Correcting Moisturizer, or Olay Regenerist UV Defense Regenerating Lotion with SPF 15.

Step 4: Fight Pigment at Night
Products containing retinol and hydroquinone are critical in the fight against PIH. (Note: There has been controversy recently regarding the safety of hydroquinone. The American Academy of Dermatology maintains that this ingredient does not pose a health risk in any way.) Retinol, a vitamin A derivative, is a supreme skin exfoliator, which helps to correct blotchy, uneven complexions; it's also great at preventing pimples. Hydroquinone has the ability to stop melanin from forming in problem areas. To avoid irritation, apply only a pea-size amount of each to the affected area of the face. Using these products on alternate nights can also help quell potential skin aggravation. Try Bliss No Zit Sherlock Oil Control Moisturizer as your retinol-containing cream and Ambi Fade Cream for your hydroquinone.
If you have sensitive skin, retinol and hydroquinone may be too irritating. Instead, keep it simple with soy, a natural antidote to unwanted brown marks. Try Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads with soy extract.
Other edibles and antioxidants that fit the bill:
Coffee berry: Revale Intense Recovery Treatment
Licorice root, mulberry, and lemon peel extract: Youth Corridor Skin Brightener
Kojic acid: La Roche-Posay Mela-D Dark Spots
Sea lily: Clarins On-The-Spot Brightening Corrector

Step 5: DIY peels
Mild, at-home chemical peels are a nice complement to the treatment of PIH. They help by exfoliating the skin and fading spots. To avoid dryness, redness, or unintended worsening of PIH, do this only one time every two weeks. Try Philosophy Microdelivery Multi-Use Peel Pads or Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Acne Mark Fading Peel; both are gentle enough to get the job done without a hitch!
Remember, Prevention is Important!
Even though 20 million Americans have acne severe enough to cause permanent scarring, 40 percent of people never seek treatment. Getting appropriate treatment for acne from a dermatologist is they best way to prevent PIH and scarring in the first place. In the mean time, try not to pick or pop your pimples; as tempting as this may be, it's almost a guarantee that PIH will follow.
True Acne Scars
Any type of acne can result in PIH, but real scars are generally the result of deep, tender cysts. These scars can be treated in the dermatologist's office with chemical peels, lasers, skin fillers, or surgery.

How to Fix Over-Plucked Brows
by Laurel Pantin
All in all, it's best to leave the major maintenance to the pros and do in between touch-ups yourself (two or three hairs, max!).Browhaus' founder Cynthia Chua to learn what to do if you do happen over-pluck, "Over-plucking is a common problem for DIY brows, and it can sometimes take months for them to grow back, if they ever do. If it does unfortunately happen, here's what you can do to get your brows back to their former glory.
Try a lash growth serum, like our Eye Lash Perfection ($32) on the bald spots. It strengthens, conditions, and promotes hair growth and will work just as well on your brows as on your lashes. Before you apply the serum, massage the brow area gently in a circular motion as increased blood flow stimulates hair growth. Apply the serum on the brow area twice a day, and be more careful next time!
If you're near a Browhaus location, come in for a Colour Tweak. We'll adjust the color of your brows slightly so that it suits your hair and complexion, and can make over-tweezed brows look a little better. For example, lighting your arches will make sparse areas look less obvious.
Finally, aside from external solutions, it's vital to tackle the problem internally as well. Your diet will play a role in your hair growth rate, so make sure you eat foods that are high in protein, iron, and vitamins B and C, such as lean meats, vegetables, citrus fruits, and dairy products. These vitamins and minerals help to stimulate hair growth."

Outfit Of The Day: Vintage Style

Now here is a blast from the past, this was a fun style challenge I participated in, where the outfit was inspired by the film "Cantinflas: From Mexico to the Big Screen." The main female character in the film was Mario Moreno's wife, Valentina Ivanova. Fashion in the 1930s was very conservative with midi length dresses and shoulder pads. For some odd reason, I love shoulder details. Furthermore, the ladies of Cantinflas had a fashion sense that was very glamorous and feminine. For those of you who don't know, the film is a unique tale of one man’s journey from modest beginnings to superstardom as a famous Mexican comedian with his beautiful Russian wife as he called her. I invite you to relive the laughter that has charmed generations of Latin history by watching the movie Cantinflas, now available on DVD.
What I Wore: Blue Long Sleeve Vintage Midi Dress (Thrift Store), Black Veil Headband (DIY), Small Handbag (Thrift Store), White Gloves (Party City), Black Oxfords, Pearls.
